We are back without another Meet the Team blog for March. This month, we are introducing you to Tony Mills, who is a Project Manager at our Jackson, Mississippi office! Tony was born and raised in Lufkin, Texas. After high school, he went to college at TSTI in Waco, Texas, where he majored in steel construction and combination welding. From the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, he worked as the Southeastern U.S. Regional Manager for a steel fabrication company. Then, Tony became a General Contractor for the next 20+ years. We welcomed him to our team in November 2022. When he is not working, most of his free time is spent with his family. He has been married to his wife Marilyn. They will celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary next month. They are parents to Erica (39), Brittany (36) and Justin (31). He is also “Granddaddy" to 5 grandchildren. He said that it is his honor to be called that because of the caliber man his granddaddy was. He, his wife, and his son are avid deer hunters. He and his son have met some of the biggest names in Whitetail Hunting. They have been on some incredible hunts in Illinois, Missouri, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, and of course, Mississippi. They have created a ton of great memories hunting over the years. The Millses love to fish as well. Tony explained that his favorite place to fish is Lake Fork in East Texas. He has fished dozens of bass tournament circuits all across three southern states. In the end, he was so competitive that it took the fun out of fishing. He only fishes for fun now! I think it is safe to say that he and his family love the great outdoors! While I was writing this blog, I asked about what advice he would give fellow employees and leaders. He responded, “my advice for employees is to take advantage of all the free training offered by GRS to help you grow not only as an employee but also as a person. Also, look for opportunities to take risks and become a leader. My advice for those who are leaders is to lead with humility and integrity. Be willing to serve those who are following you so that they can achieve what you already have. Be an encourager and motivator for those that look up to you.” I also asked him what he likes about working for Guarantee Restoration Services. He stated, “I love that GRS focuses on creating an environment that encourages balance, and growth (personal and business) and offers the opportunity for advancement for those willing to take risks and pursue their dreams.” Another question I always ask is if the Meet the Team individual has learned anything new recently. Tony said, “I’ve recently learned, with A LOT of help, to perform “menial” tasks on a computer. I still don’t like it, but I am learning!” Finally, he told me what he wanted to be when he was younger. He said, “My dream jobs as a child were to pro bass fish like my papaw or be a carpenter like my granddaddy.”
