Meet The Team | Douglas Barber

Christina Mullins • October 11, 2023

After this past weekend’s cold front, it’s officially feeling like Fall along the Gulf Coast. This October, our Meet the Team blog series features Douglas Barber. He serves as a Project Manager at our Gulfport location.

Douglas was born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi. After graduating from West Harrison High School in 2016, he started working for a painting and water proofing company. He worked his way up there and eventually became a superintendent before joining our GRS team in December 2020 as a technician. In September 2022, he was promoted to project manager.

Personally, when he is not working, his passion for construction continues to keep him engaged. Douglas enjoys visiting construction sites to observe ongoing projects. He also participates in construction-related forums and online communities. He enjoys the typical DIY home projects as well. He expressed that he truly is a homebody that enjoys the comfort of home. When he is not busy learning or doing things around the house, he enjoys cooking and learning new ways to prepare dishes, too.

Furthermore, I asked Douglas what he wanted to be when he grew up. He stated, “Growing up I always watched my father tinker with cars, trucks, or anything that held a motor. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps.”

As I was writing this blog, I asked him what he likes about working for Guarantee Restoration Services. He said, “I truly appreciate the collaborative and supportive work environment at GRS, which fosters creativity, growth, and a strong sense of teamwork.

Finally, he gave some advice to both our team members and leaders. He responded, “My advice for employees is to prioritize open communication and always seek new learning opportunities. My advice for leaders is to continue creating an environment of trust and transparency, empower and support their team members, and consistently communicate clear goals and expectations.”
