Smoke Damage After a Fire

Kristen Schmitz • December 7, 2022

A fire can wreak devastation on a home or business and pose a serious safety threat to any in the immediate area. While the flames themselves get a lot of attention for the damage they leave behind, smoke can also pose consequences that are equally severe.

Hidden Damage from Smoke

Smoke particles and soot become microscopic invaders after a fire, working their way into every crook and crevice of your structure and settling deep into surfaces. Not only can this leave behind a stubborn and unpleasant odor, it can also compromise the structural integrity of your building or home and leave walls, ceilings, and other exposed surfaces discolored.

The only true way to fully eradicate smoke and its negative effects is with the assistance of professional restoration experts. These teams can mitigate the damage from smoke, as well as neutralize the smell.

Lingering Health Effects from Smoke Damage

Even scarier than the hidden damage that smoke can leave behind in a structure is the potential health ramifications. We all know too well the consequences that can come from cigarette smoke. Exposure to smoke from a fire is no different. It can distress the lungs and aggravate conditions like asthma, lead to skin dermatitis, and most dangerous of all, inhalation of potentially deadly carbon monoxide.

Professionally Cleaning Smoke Damage

Given the structural and health damages that smoke and its remnants can pose, cleaning and restoration following a fire or smoke damage should always be left to certified professionals who have the expertise and equipment necessary. Our team at Guarantee Restoration Services will ensure that every inch of smoke or fire-damaged construction is removed and soundly reconstructed, that every lingering particle is cleared away, and that no odor or other sign of previous damage remains.

If your home or business has recently been exposed to smoke or fire, it is important to seek out the aid of experts to uncover and restore the hidden damage. Guarantee Restoration is here to help.
