Meet the Team | Demetrius Smith

Christina Mullins • June 15, 2022

We are well into June already! The summer is almost here (officially, anyway). Our team is gearing up from what has been predicted to be another active hurricane season.

If you have been following us for a while, you may have noticed that each month, we highlight a different team member at one of our five branches. This month, we are very excited to introduce you to Demetrius Smith, who serves as a Project Manager at our Jackson, Mississippi office. Read more about him below!

Meet the Team: Chicago to Mississippi, Finding His Way

Demetrius was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. When he was 15, he and his family moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1995.

After high school, he attended trade schools, trying his hand at different crafts. These included barber school and heavy equipment operation. Before starting at GRS in June 2020, Demetrius worked in different levels of construction or cleaning. Naturally, Guarantee Restoration was the perfect fit for his career path.

In fact, Demetrius started off by being hired as a technician at our Gulfport location. Whenever our second Mississippi location opened in Jackson, he moved there to continue working as a tech. Recently, he has been promoted to a Project Manager!

When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family. He is the father of five children: Chris (24), Jodarius (19), Jada (17), Braylon (8) and Brooklyn (6).

On any given Sunday, you can find him watching football! Demetrius is a huge fan of the Chicago Bears...THA BEARS FOR LIFE!! In addition, he loves outdoor grilling, cooking seafood and exercising.

Meet the Team: Starts with the People

While I was writing this blog post, I asked him what he likes about working for Guarantee. He stated, “It starts with the people. The family work environment is great. No day is the same. The opportunities for advancement are great.”

GRS is hiring at each of our five locations. We have three Louisiana branches in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans, as well as two in Jackson and Gulfport, Mississippi. Ahh, October. It’s hard to fathom that we’re already on the brink of Halloween — and then, you know how the rest of the year goes. Before long, we’ll be preparing for our last full company meeting, Family Day, and our Thanksmas celebrations. The end of 2025 will be here before we know it! That being said — no matter what the busy season brings — when it comes to property damage emergencies, our team is always there for you. Meet the Team | Whitney Hampton Every month, I have the opportunity to showcase one of our awesome team members. For October, we are excited to introduce you to Whitney Hampton , one of our Gulfport Business Development Representatives. Gulf Coast Roots & Family Life Whitney was born and raised in New Orleans but has split her time between Louisiana and Mississippi throughout her life. She later moved to Gulfport, where she graduated from high school. As a young adult, she lived in Bossier City, LA. Now, she is back on the coast in Biloxi, where she raises her two children, Kohen and Kobi, with her husband. Education & Professional Background Whitney graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Marketing — SMTTT! This December, she’ll be finishing her master’s in marketing with a specialization in Digital Strategy. Before joining our team in December 2023, she worked in property management. Whitney started in leasing, then was promoted to Community Manager, where she received the Best Marketing Award in 2023 . Life Outside of Work Personally, when she is not working, Whitney is usually busy with “The Adventures of Kohen and Kobi.” They love spending their weekends exploring new places, such as the science museum, zoo, or splash pad. Staying active and making fun memories together is what she enjoys most. Sports are a big part of the Hampton household. They are big Philadelphia Eagles fans — GO BIRDS! They also love the Florida Gators and have attended many games in Gainesville. Saturdays and Sundays are definitely football days in their house.
